My best friend in elementary school loved trying to convince me that his juice weasel references were common knowledge and it was ridiculous I’d never heard of so-and-so or such-and-such. Or now that I think of it, maybe it’s just that I really did live under a rock because I spent all my time riding my bike, watching the Simpsons (those references I got, usually) and reading books like Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH.
