This is lovely Chris. Took me back to those early weeks when all the little things are really big things. And thank you for calling out the 'we'. It REALLY bugs me when men say, 'We are pregnant'. No, no, and er...no dude. You are currently pretty much unchanged.
Congrats on the kiddo! I really appreciate your perspective and think that advice you got is wonderful. As far as the swaddle giant goes, I’ve heard there might be a jolly green one in a valley in Minnesota but he blends in with the environment and is in high demand from sleep deprived parents so he’s hard to find.
I'm so happy for you!!! Also, as a parent of a boy- invest in the peepee tent! It's a little tent that you can throw over the down below part while diaper changing :) It's a game changer and will save you from getting hosed 🤣
Savor all the wonderful things. It's cliche but yes it goes way too fast.
Congrats to you and yours on the new addition! Every baby is different and every day is different — understatement of the century — but you'll figure yours out. And then then they'll change. And then you'll figure them out again ad infinitum. Enjoy the ride! 🤍
Congrats on the new baby and this insightful piece! If no one has told you rubbing a wet napkin right under the belly button before changing a diaper might help them go before you take the nappy off! Saved me many a time from a pee fiasco
Congrats / welcome to the tribe Chris and Mollie, and I loved the adult swaddling idea. How about that as a side hustle when the kids are in college and you finally have some time?
And from a Mom of twins also, Chris: at least you don't have to keep a chart to make sure both have been fed, washed, changed, etc. Believe me, in the early weeks when both may look really alike and you have put a bracelet on one to know who is who and you're exhausted x 2 it can get confusing! And I say this even when technically my twins were not identical but they sure did look alike back then. And we went through 90 premie-size diapers a week!

Thank you Erik! I will reach out to the Jolly Green Giant you referred me to and let him know you sent me.
